Crane Barge
Sadie
Thompson
Brief
History of Sadie Thompson
Not much is known about the Sadie Thompson other
than it is a barge that was built in the 1890's. It was being used
in the construction of the Whitefish Bay Harbor in the 1950's when
it broke from its moorings in a storm and sank about 4 miles
southwest of the harbor.
The Site: For a barge it is a pretty good dive and is located close to shore and often in the lee of the point. It makes good dive when the weather is from the west or northwest and too bad to dive elsewhere. The depth is 115' max. It lies about 3/4 overturned, but there is a lot of interesting machinery to see.
